SARA lewis | Owner & Instructor

Sara had already fully embraced a whole other career (and expense account) as a high level executive in the music industry for over 10 years before she decided it was time to make a major change in her life.  After becoming certified on all apparatuses in west-coast contemporary style Pilates, Sara decided to pursue a full-time career as an instructor.  She began teaching at studios throughout California and in the process began developing her own unique method of teaching.  In 2011, she opened the doors of XO.  Sara’s former lives also consist of having studied classical piano at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.  She is also a NASM certified personal trainer.  She lives in Encino with her husband Myles, daughter Lennon and pitbull Red.

 

 

 

Guy

GUY woodson | Instructor

Guy grew up as a dancer and gymnast, with his career taking him all over the globe, from Broadway onto cruise ships.   He has trained in many physical techniques and discovered Pilates after a bad gymnastic injury led to two spinal surgeries, with his taking to the Pilates Method like a fish to water.  Guy is certified through BASI (Body Arts Science International) under the direction of Rael Isacowitz.  He teaches locally and is excited to include XO as one of the select studios where he teaches, “The combination of Pilates and cross-training makes for a perfect balance.”  Guy works with clients of all levels and excels at catering to each individual while guiding them to realize their full potential and says “My biggest pleasure in teaching fitness is seeing the client’s progress and the difference it makes in their lives.”

CARLY jones | Instructor

Movement has always been essential in Carly’s life. She found dance when her parents enrolled her in a dance class at a very early age and Carly immediately fell in love with it and dedicated herself to classical ballet. By the age of 16 she was studying with the Boston Ballet and the prestigious American Ballet Theater. While studying in New York, she discovered yoga and Pilates and quickly realized how these disciplines helped to improve her dancing, flexibility and overall strength. Over time Carly’s interests have shifted away from ballet, but Pilates remains an important prerequisite for her active lifestyle. She is an avid hiker having ascended Mount Whitney and trekked across the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Carly is certified in West-Coast Contemporary Pilates and through XO’s own certification.

 

ariel fitnessARIEL kashanchi | Instructor

Ariel fell in love with fitness at a young age. It was only after a major car accident however and through rehabilitating her lower back injury, that she found Pilates. The results that she got were amazing. She not only healed her back, but got in the best shape of her life and decided to make a career in Pilates. Ariel got her first Pilates certification in 2008 and began teaching in 2009. She is trained on every Pilates apparatus and received her certification through XO in 2014. Her love of her craft and natural exuberance have made her an excellent instructor and guarantee her clients a fun, dynamic and challenging fitness experience.

Sloan-Taylor comes to us fresh off of touring with Lady Gaga as principle backup dancer.  She has been living and dancing professionally out of LA for the past 6 years.  In between tours (and when everyone else was sleeping, eating or relaxing), Sloan received her Pilates Certification through Pilates Sports Center and her Yoga Certification through Corepower.   A longtime client of XO, Sloan then added the XO Certification to her pedigree as well. Now that she is back home, she is ready to put her knowledge of movement and fitness to use.  Sloan is a passionate Pilates instructor with plenty of tricks up her sleeve.  She has great energy and will kick your butt all while having a good time.  Sloan likes to see her students push themselves beyond their comfort zone to reach their full potential. She often says to her students “The hardest part is showing up.”
